Licences & Stamps

Waterfowl Licence and Bird Stamp Reminder

Hunters are responsible for having the required Saskatchewan waterfowl licence and bird stamp before hunting. Saskatchewan’s online hunting licence system uses a Hunting, Angling and Trapping Licence, also known as a HAL account.

Chris can help point your group in the right direction, but each hunter should make sure their licence, stamps, travel documents, and legal requirements are handled before the trip.

Before You Arrive, Ask About:

  • Waterfowl licence requirements
  • Bird stamp requirements
  • HAL account setup
  • Season timing
  • Group travel questions
  • What each hunter must handle personally
Bringing a Shotgun Into Canada

Firearm Travel Paperwork

If you are bringing your own shotgun into Canada, you should review current Canadian border requirements before traveling. CBSA says visitors without a valid Canadian firearms licence must complete RCMP Form 5589, the Non-Resident Firearm Declaration, and pay the current confirmation fee at the border.

Based on current CBSA guidance, that fee is CAN$25. Requirements can change, so every hunter should verify the latest rules before travel.

  • Bring a normal hunting shotgun suitable for waterfowl
  • Shotgun must be plugged to hold no more than 3 shells
  • Review Canada firearm import rules before your trip
  • Have your firearm paperwork ready before reaching the border
  • Ask Chris what most groups do before finalizing travel plans
